People often ask me how I got started. And you know, I never really started. It has always been this way.
August 1988. I was 14 years old. At a local festival in Oldenzaal, I met a mime artist. I thought to myself, I could do that too. After this encounter, he invited me to join him that afternoon and perform on the street. And there I was, wearing my grandfather’s wedding suit, sweating profusely in the blazing summer sun. From that day on, things have never been the same. Now I just find myself on stage a bit more often.
And that mime artist? Unfortunately, I never met or spoke to him again. I would love to thank him one more time.

Fascinated by theater, music, and the smallest sounds, Niek Boes began his artistic journey at the age of 5, entertaining friends and family and capturing their hearts as a little boy. His “Donald Duck monologue,” incomprehensible and entirely devoid of any meaning, made a deep impression on national radio. He underwent intensive training, courses, and singing lessons to refine his voice in a classical and technical manner.
Niek Boes began his official career in 1988 in Oldenzaal. He was fourteen when he signed his first contract. Soon after, he performed extensively both domestically and internationally with his famous and unique theater shows. In 1995, he presented “Niks Zeggen Slap Lachen,” and in 1997, “Sounds.” Over the years, Niek developed a range of sound animations with his voice that were indistinguishable from real sounds, which he incorporated into his performances.
A new theatrical form was born, and with his show “The Art of Voice,” he staged many performances around the world. As the years went by, he gained increasing fame for his incredible sound imitations, astonishing virtuosity, and humor that resonates with everyone. His versatility earned him the title of the first Dutch artist to receive “Die Internationale Goldener Künstlerpreis” in Germany.
Naturally, the talent of the young entertainer did not go unnoticed. He made several guest appearances on TV, radio, and during events. In 2002 and 2004, Niek performed alongside Karin Bloemen in Dutch theaters. In addition to his various shows in theaters and at events, Niek regularly lends his voice as a voice actor for various commercials and animated films. Niek Boes travels the world with his shows, performing in three languages.
